OUR STORY

THE UPPER DELAWARE INN

in Hancock, NY

The Upper Delaware Inn has been part of the Hancock scene for decades. Formerly the Capra Inn, the motel was purchased in 2016 by John Rajoppi. Previous owners included John’s father, Don Rajoppi, who built the Inn in 1993.  The recent purchase brings the business back into the family. In addition to the new name, the motel is continually being updated and refurbished, inside and out, while maintaining the look and feel of a classic American motel.

Along with the focus on infrastructure and maintenance, the Upper Delaware Inn has prioritized hospitality as an essential focus of the rebranding that is underway.  Staff is focused on paying attention to details to provide our guests with the best stay possible.

LOCATION HISTORY

The Upper Delaware Inn is located on the former site of Collette Manufacturing, a football manufacturer that operated in Hancock during the early 20th century. Just next door is the Larimer & Norton building, the former Louisville Slugger baseball bat factory. It is said that Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Joe DiMaggio, and Ted Williams all set records with bats that started out in the Hancock mill.

Only a few blocks from the “Wedding of the Waters,” the confluence of the East and West Branch of the Delaware River, the Upper Delaware Inn is the perfect location to call home for your flyfishing excursions.
